It’s A Cold Day In Texas!

Traveler’s Treasure
January 20, 2008

Hello! Hope this finds you well! It’s Sunday all day here in Texas, and VERY cold! We keep hoping to see even a little snow. Here in the Dallas area, we’ve not seen the UFO sightings that the folks in Stephenville area have. Most just assume it is some government project (ho-hum) and go on about their business.

My pineapple plant is hanging on…I really hope it lasts until time to put it back outside in March when the warmer weather will hopefully bring it courage to continue to grow! We’re planning a move, so it will be planted into the ground at that site.

The fantastic, 3-ingredient recipe for this week is:

Cheesy Slow-Cooker Chicken

1. 6 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

2. 10-ounce can cream of chicken soup

3. 10-ounce can of Fiesta cheese soup

or

a roll of Jalapeno Velveeta Cheese

Place chicken breasts in 3-4 quart slow-cooker (crockpot). Pour the undiluted soups over the chicken and mix well. Cover slow-cooker, and cook on low 7 to 8 hours until chicken is tender and thoroughly cooked. Serve over rice or noodles. And, I’ve never had any complaints about having corn chips around for dipping, either! Delicious! 6 servings

I came across a very well-done and interesting Website for all of you actual or armchair-travelers: http://travelcomedy.com/home2.htm. Jeff has really put some time and work into his Website, with some very amusing and interesting information.

“Traveling the U.S. by car? You probably already know that dialing 911 will reach emergency services, and 411 will give you directory assistance. But did you know that 511 can give you important information that could affect your travels?

Like its ‘-11′ cousins, this number is being implemented through many states and areas to ensure consistency and easy access to information. With one call, the service provides information on traffic conditions, road closures, construction and emergency alerts. This data is also available online through the Federal Hightwy Administration at http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/trafficinfo/511.htm.

Regardless of how the first three weeks of the year has gone, you have an opportunity for the life of your dreams this year in the remaining 49 weeks to go! If you are stuck in a rut, you can get out! Be encouraged to make the good changes in your attitude and how you speak to yourself and to those around you, because we plant seeds with our words and get the same type of crop we planted! I hope for all of you, hope in the face of former failure, peace in strife, and a look upward where before you just looked down at your feet. The sky’s the limit!

To your success, and Happy Traveling!

  1. I tried the recipe, and I loved it! It’s also pretty enlightening re: the “-11″ cousins, but the charges for accessing it via cellphone are SO high! Now I understand why there are so many free services these days like 800FREE411 or something they’re doing with those google folks. It’s robbery, I tell you.

  2. Glad you liked the recipe…and, thank you for offering the reminder about how high the “-11″ charges are via cellphone! Isn’t the free 411 no. great? I hope we’ll see more of these.

“glennspin,” glad to have you along!
